Moving day comes with a lot of details. Cleaning is easiest to plan when you know what condition the property needs to be in and which parts of the work need special attention.
Use this checklist to sort out your priorities, then agree the exact tasks with your cleaner.
Start With Your Lease and Timeline
Read the move-out requirements, note the inspection date and decide when the furniture and boxes will be gone. If the cleaning happens before the property is empty, some surfaces won't be reachable.
Kitchen
- Remove food and household items where required
- Check the condition of the countertops, sink and faucet
- Look for buildup on the stovetop and backsplash
- Check whether the inside of the oven and fridge must be cleaned
- Confirm whether cabinet shelves and drawers need cleaning inside
- Check the floor edges and baseboards
Bathrooms
- Look for residue on the sink, tub or shower and toilets
- Check the mirrors, counters, fixtures and floors
- List any unusual buildup or surfaces that need particular care
- Note which cabinets must be emptied or cleaned inside
Bedrooms and Common Areas
- Remove personal items and secure valuables
- Check reachable surfaces and windowsills
- Confirm what's expected for vacuuming and mopping
- Note scuffs, damage or stains that cleaning alone won't fix
Before the Appointment
- Make sure the utilities and water will be on
- Share access, parking, lock and building instructions
- Pass on your landlord's or property manager's checklist
- Ask for separate pricing on appliance interiors or special tasks
- Check the cancellation terms before you book
After the Appointment
Compare the finished work with the checklist you agreed. Document any existing damage or stains separately.
No cleaning company can guarantee your deposit back. That decision belongs to your landlord, so follow your lease and local rules if there's a dispute.
Our move cleaning is planned around your move date, the empty rooms and your landlord's checklist. Tell us the date, the size of the home and the tasks the property needs, and we'll put together an estimate.
